## Connect the VPN
|

### 1. Go to the UTS VPN page
|
|
|
|
Open this link: **[https://vpn.uts.edu.au/](https://vpn.uts.edu.au/)**
|

### 2. Click the VPN tunnel
|
|
|
|
Students will see a slightly different option)
|
|
|

### 3. Install the plugin (only the first time)
|
|
|
|
The browser may need to install the F5 plugin. - agree to this.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
**MacOS users may have this download blocked** see the [appendix](#appendix-connecting-to-the-vpn-on-macos).

|
|
|
|
|

### 4. Successful VPN connection
|
|
|
|
It will then ask you 2-3 times to allow F5 to connect.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
If it is working you’ll see this screen:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

## Logon to OMERO
|
|
|
|
### 5. Go the the OMERO website
|
|
|
|
Click [here](https://omero.research.uts.edu.au/webclient/?show=project-2103) or cut and paste this URL into new browser window:

### 6. Logon to OMERO
|
|
|
|
Enter your:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
* UTS student ID
|
|
|
|
* your email password
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
### 7. Successful logon to OMERO
|
|
|
|
If everything is working you should see:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
## Appendix: Connecting to the VPN on MacOS
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
When connecting to the VPN through [vpn.uts.edu.au](https://vpn.uts.edu.au/) your computer may need to download and install some software. On newer versions on MacOS this may be blocked as it not recognised as coming from a trusted source.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
To install the VPN software you will need to explicitly authorise this in your system preferences.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
### 1. Go to System Preferences
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click on the apple menu then select System Preferences:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
### 2. Click on the "Security & Privacy"
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
### 3. Allow application from identified developers
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
You may need to allow you Mac to install applications from developers in addition to those from the App Store.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click the lock and enter your password to make changes
|
|
|
|
Under the header “Allow apps downloaded from.”, select:
|
|
|
|
App Store and Identified Developers
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Click the lock to close it and save the changes to your settings.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
### 4. Click 'Open Anyway'
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
On the General tab the name of the last blocked application will appear.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
To authorise this click 'Open Anyway'
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
A warning prompt will reappears, but you can click Open.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
Go back to [step 4](#4-successful-vpn-connection).
