# Well spacing definition

**Problem** The jumps between wells are miscalibrated.
|
|
|
|
|
|
**Symptom** When taking images across a well plate the spacing betweem the wells is wrong.
|
|
|
|

**Steps**
|
|
|
- The plate definitions in the GE supplied and the manufacturer's specification between the wells was correct
|
|
|
- The stage movements in within the well were calibrated correctly.
|
|
|
- The coordinates defining the plate edges (TL,TR,BL) were correct.
|
|
|
- Changing the location TR corner changed the scaling in unintuitive ways.
|
|
|
|
|
|
**Solutions**
|
|
|
There is plate setting offset for the top corner (A1 well) which was incorrect in the template.

|
|

The coordinates system used for TL,TR,BL is relative to this point which leads to strange behaviour.
